The oldest rakia inscription on a cup found in Bulgaria was discovered during excavation works at the Trapezitsa peak in Veliko Tarnovo, historian Professor Bozhidar Dimitrov, director of the National Museum of Hystory announced.
According to Dimitrov, the finding is sensational and proves that the rakia (special type of brandy) was invented in Bulgaria.
A photo of the archaeological finding will be sent to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, which has been trying to register the rakia as a national product at the European Commission (EC).
